The India Bon Voyage Difference
💡 Pro Tip: The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday for prayers. Always book your visit for any other day of the week.
Be among the first visitors through the East Gate as the Taj Mahal glows in shades of rose and gold. Fewer crowds, magical light, unforgettable photographs.
Our Agra-based guides share hidden stories — the secret geometry of the gardens, the optical illusions built into the minarets, and the craftsmanship of 22,000 artisans.
Travel in comfort in our fleet of clean, well-maintained AC vehicles. Bottled water, Wi-Fi, and a friendly driver included on all private tours.
Sunrise entry (approximately 30 minutes before the official gate opening) gives you cooler temperatures, far fewer crowds, and the most dramatic soft light on the white marble. It's worth the early wake-up — every single time.
The Taj Mahal complex is a religious site. Wear modest clothing — cover your shoulders and knees. Footwear is removed before entering the main mausoleum, so comfortable slip-ons are a wise choice.
Many visitors underestimate the scale of the complex. The main tomb, reflecting pools, mosque, guest house, and surrounding gardens all deserve time. Budget at least 3 hours — or book our full-day package.
The ASI entry fee must be paid at the ticket counter in Indian Rupees (INR). Foreigners currently pay ₹1,100 for adult entry. Our packages include tickets, but keep some cash for any personal purchases inside.
The Taj Mahal is completely closed every Friday. Always double-check your travel date — this is the single most common planning mistake we see. We'll always confirm this with you at the time of booking.
While in Agra, consider combining your Taj Mahal trip with Agra Fort, the baby Taj (Itmad-ud-Daulah), and Mehtab Bagh — an incredible viewpoint directly across the Yamuna River.

October to March is widely considered the best period for visiting the Taj Mahal. The weather is pleasantly cool (15–25°C), and visibility is at its clearest. November to February is peak season — popular for a reason, but book in advance. April to June can be extremely hot (up to 45°C). The monsoon months of July to September bring lush greenery and fewer crowds, though humidity is high.
The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as the crown jewel of India's rich Mughal heritage. Located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, this 17th-century ivory-white marble mausoleum draws millions of visitors each year from across the globe. If you're planning to visit the Taj Mahal in 2026, this comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know — from the best tour packages to expert insider tips.
The most popular option for international travellers is a Taj Mahal day trip from Delhi. With the Yamuna Expressway cutting travel time to under 3 hours, it's entirely feasible to depart Delhi in the morning, spend a full, enriching day in Agra, and return to Delhi for dinner. India Bon Voyage offers both private car tours and train-based day trips aboard the prestigious Gatimaan Express — India's fastest train.
If you can only visit the Taj Mahal once, make it sunrise. The Taj Mahal at dawn is a completely different monument — ethereal, misty, and bathed in the softest pink and gold light. Crowds are minimal in the first 45 minutes after the gates open, making it the perfect time for photographs and quiet contemplation. Our sunrise tour packages depart Delhi between 4:00–5:00am to ensure you arrive early enough to secure prime position.
Just 2.5km from the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort is a magnificent red sandstone fortress that served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. From its towers, you'll find one of the finest views of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River. Our combination tour packages include both sites in a single well-paced day.
Approximately 40km west of Agra lies Fatehpur Sikri, a beautifully preserved Mughal city abandoned just 14 years after its construction due to water shortages. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the region's most undervisited gems — a perfect addition to any Agra itinerary for travellers with an extra half-day to spare.
