Day 1: Royal Arrival, Grand Palaces, and Sunset Romance

10:00 AM – Arrival & Heritage Check-In

Your majestic escape begins with a warm welcome from your private chauffeur at the Maharana Pratap Airport or Udaipur Railway Station. After securely loading your luggage, you will be transferred to your chosen accommodation. Udaipur boasts some of the finest hospitality in the world; checking into a restored heritage Haveli or a luxury lakeside hotel instantly sets a regal, romantic tone for your trip. Take an hour to freshen up and enjoy a welcome drink of fresh lime soda or rose sherbet.

11:30 AM – The Grand City Palace Tour

Your historical exploration officially commences at the Udaipur City Palace. Towering over Lake Pichola, this massive architectural marvel was built over nearly 400 years by successive Maharanas of the Mewar dynasty.

Entering through the grand Badi Pol (Great Gate), your expert local guide will lead you through a fascinating labyrinth of courtyards, terraces, and hanging gardens. The highlights include the Mor Chowk (Peacock Courtyard), adorned with stunning glass mosaics of peacocks representing the three seasons, and the Zenana Mahal (Queen's Palace). The upper balconies offer spectacular, panoramic views of the shimmering lake below—a perfect backdrop for couple's photography.

02:00 PM – Jagdish Temple & Traditional Lunch

Just outside the City Palace gates lies the Jagdish Temple, an imposing structure dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Climb the steep marble steps to admire the intricately carved pillars and the serene atmosphere filled with the scent of incense and ringing bells.

Following the temple visit, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a nearby rooftop café. We highly recommend ordering a traditional Rajasthani Thali or trying the local Govind Gatta curry, allowing you to sample the region's rich, spiced flavors while looking out over the water.

04:30 PM – Lake Pichola Sunset Boat Ride

As the harsh afternoon sun softens, make your way to the Rameshwar Ghat to board a traditional wooden boat for your Lake Pichola boat ride. This is the undisputed emotional climax of the day.

You will glide peacefully across the calm waters, passing the ethereal Taj Lake Palace, which appears to float miraculously on the surface. The boat will then anchor at Jag Mandir, an island palace where you can step off, explore the historic gardens, and order a cup of coffee. Watching the sunset cast a golden-orange glow over the Aravalli hills and the City Palace facade is an incredibly romantic, unforgettable experience.

07:30 PM – Lakeside Dinner at Ambrai Ghat

Conclude your first day by crossing over to the Hanuman Ghat area for dinner. Securing a table at a premium lakeside restaurant (such as Ambrai or Upre) offers a magical dining experience. You will enjoy your meal right at the water's edge, watching the illuminated City Palace reflect perfectly in the dark lake.

(Overnight in Udaipur)

Day 2: Gardens, Panoramic Views, and Local Heritage

08:30 AM – Breakfast and Wellness

Start your morning slowly. Many heritage hotels in Udaipur offer exceptional morning yoga sessions on their rooftops. After a rejuvenating stretch in the crisp morning air, enjoy a lavish breakfast featuring both continental options and local favorites like Poha and hot Jalebis.

10:00 AM – Saheliyon Ki Bari (Garden of the Maidens)

After checking out and securing your luggage in your private vehicle, drive to the northern part of the city to visit Saheliyon Ki Bari. This lush, green garden was constructed in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh for the 48 young maidens who accompanied his queen as part of her dowry.

The garden is an oasis of tranquility, featuring beautifully carved marble elephants, lotus pools, and spectacular fountains. Remarkably, the water pressure for these fountains is generated entirely by gravity from the nearby Fateh Sagar Lake, without the use of a single mechanical pump.

11:30 AM – Fateh Sagar Lake & Vintage Car Museum

Take a scenic drive along the perimeter of Fateh Sagar Lake. If you are an automobile enthusiast, make a brief stop at the Vintage and Classic Car Collection Museum. Owned by the current royal family, this unique museum houses an immaculate collection of Rolls Royces, Cadillacs, and Mercedes that were used by the Maharanas of Mewar.

01:00 PM – Karni Mata Ropeway & Panoramic Views

For the absolute best bird’s-eye view of your Udaipur City Tour Package 2 Days 1 Night — Lakes, Palaces & Sightseeing, head to the Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway. This short but thrilling cable car ride takes you up Machla Magra hill. Once at the top, you are rewarded with sweeping, uninterrupted views of Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, the City Palace complex, and the rugged Aravalli Mountain range.

02:30 PM – Authentic Heritage Shopping

Following a light lunch, spend your final hours diving into Udaipur’s vibrant artisan culture. Head to Hathi Pol Bazaar or Bada Bazaar, steering clear of tourist traps to find authentic local crafts. Udaipur is globally renowned for its detailed Pichwai and miniature paintings, crafted using natural stone colors and single-hair camel brushes. It is also an excellent place to purchase high-quality silver jewelry and hand-stitched leather journals.

04:30 PM – Departure

With your soul nourished by royal history and your bags packed with beautiful souvenirs, your chauffeur will safely transfer you back to the Maharana Pratap Airport or the railway station for your onward journey, marking the flawless conclusion of your Udaipur weekend itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Is 2 days and 1 night enough for Udaipur?

Yes, a 2-day, 1-night itinerary is an excellent, highly efficient timeframe for a short getaway. It provides exactly enough time to comfortably visit the major highlights—the City Palace, Lake Pichola, and the historic gardens—while also allowing time for heritage shopping and a romantic lakeside dinner without feeling frantically rushed.

How do I travel to Udaipur?

Udaipur is extremely well-connected. The Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) receives daily direct domestic flights from major hubs like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur. Alternatively, it is well-connected by premium overnight trains or can be reached via a scenic road trip from other cities in Rajasthan.

Is Udaipur safe for solo female travellers?

Absolutely. Udaipur is widely considered one of the safest, most welcoming, and women-friendly tourist cities in India. The locals are exceptionally hospitable. The areas surrounding the lakes are well-lit and bustling with tourists. Booking a structured tour with a reliable private driver adds an excellent, highly recommended layer of convenience and safety.

What makes Udaipur different from Jaipur?

While Jaipur (The Pink City) is known for its bustling, massive desert forts, bustling bazaars, and red sandstone architecture, Udaipur is defined by its tranquility. Built around a series of interconnected lakes and nestled in the green Aravalli hills, Udaipur offers a much slower, more romantic, and deeply relaxing atmosphere featuring pristine white marble palaces.

Outstanding experience in both Varanasi and Agra! We had an unforgettable journey through Varanasi and Agra thanks to our guide. At the Taj Mahal, their deep knowledge of Mughal architecture and history brought the monument to life, and they expertly guided us away from the heavy crowds to get the best views and photos. In Varanasi, they navigated the bustling alleys and ghats seamlessly, explaining the spiritual significance of the Ganga Aarti and morning boat ride with great care and respect. Punctual, professional, and genuinely attentive throughout. Highly recommended to anyone visiting North India!

Don’t just go to the Taj Mahal…EXPERIENCE it!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Absolutely Incredible Day in Agra! Our experience with India Bon Voyage was truly unforgettable, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! Our day began with Jitendra picking us up from our hotel before sunrise so we could experience the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Seeing the Taj Mahal in that beautiful morning light was absolutely breathtaking. Afterward, he took us back to our hotel so we could relax and enjoy breakfast before picking us up again to continue our day. Jitendra was an incredible guide. He was knowledgeable, professional, personable, and genuinely fun to spend the day with. He answered every question we had and shared fascinating facts and stories that made the Taj Mahal come alive. He even pointed out some of the Taj Mahal’s amazing optical illusions and architectural details that we would have completely missed on our own. From there, we visited Agra Fort, the Baby Taj, and several really interesting local shops. One thing that really stood out to me was how attentive Jitendra was without ever being intrusive. When we wanted to wander around on our own, he stayed nearby in case we needed anything. That gave us the freedom to explore while still knowing we had someone looking out for us. Lunch at the beautiful five-star hotel was also fantastic and was such a wonderful addition to the day. But the perfect ending was still to come. At dusk, Jitendra took us to a beautiful viewing spot where we could watch the Taj Mahal as the changing light seemed to transform its color. It was absolutely magical and something I will never forget. Jitendra didn’t just show us the Taj Mahal—he helped us experience it. His knowledge, kindness, professionalism, humor, and genuine care made the entire day feel effortless and special. If you’re visiting Agra, do yourself a favor and book with India Bon Voyage. Having Jitendra as our guide made an already incredible place even more meaningful. We left with unforgettable memories, incredible photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the history and beauty of the Taj Mahal. India Bon Voyage and Jitendra deserve every one of these five stars! 🇮🇳❤️✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly, highly recommended!

TAJ MAHAL We had a wonderful experience. Reading about Taj Mahal does not compare to being there and getting the information and the intricate details. Jitu from India Bonvoyage was a fantastic guide, gave us much information on the history. I loved my experience and the wonderful love story of Mughal Shah Jahn and Mumtaj Mahal!
