Delhi – Leh
Catch an early morning flight to Leh. Upon arrival at Leh Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Have lunch and relax. Since you are arriving at an altitude of 11,000 feet, we advise you to rest completely on the first day and avoid any strenuous activities. The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the high-altitude environment of Leh. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Leh: Sham Valley Excursion (60 km/approx. 2 hours one way)
After breakfast, depart for the beautiful Sham Valley. En route, visit Spituk Monastery, Ladakh Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. Afterwards, return to the hotel and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant of your choice (on direct payment basis). Later in the evening, visit Shanti Stupa, followed by a Light and Sound Show near the Hall of Fame (subject to weather conditions/technical reasons). Return to the hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
LEH – KHARDUNG LA – NUBRA VALLEY (140 KMS / APPROX 05-06 HRS)
Today, after breakfast, check out from the hotel and we will begin our journey to Nubra Valley via Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable road at an altitude of 18,832 feet above sea level. At Khardung La Pass, experience the snow-capped peaks and mountains that offer breathtaking views. Drive through the valley, which is incredibly scenic and perfect for photography. Nubra Valley is an oasis in Ladakh, as you will see some colorful trees in this region. Arrive in Nubra and enjoy an adventurous ATV ride (one complimentary ride). Afterwards, reach your camp and relax. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire at the camp (weather permitting) and take a stroll around the campsite. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Note: The Khardung La pass may remain close till first week of May. In that case the tourist will do excursion to Khadung La and stay at Leh in place of Nubra Valley on day 03 & 04.
NUBRA VALLEY
After breakfast, visit Diskit Monastery, a 500-year-old gompa situated on a hilltop at an altitude of 3142 meters, and see the magnificent 106-foot-tall statue of Jampa (Maitreya) Buddha facing the Shyok River. Afterwards, head to the white sand dunes in Hunder. You can enjoy a camel ride (payment is made directly). Return to the camp and relax.
Note: Alternatively, you can opt for day trip to Turtuk (northern most last village of India at Indo-Pak border) or visit to Siachin Base Camp (newly opened for tourists) at additional cost (needs to be confirmed in advance) Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
NUBRA TO PANGONG (165 KMS / APPROX 06-07 HRS TOTAL)
After breakfast, depart for Pangong Lake, situated at an altitude of 14,500 feet, via Agham and Shyok villages. Pangong is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Enjoy the spectacular views of the blue lake nestled amidst the towering Himalayan mountains. This is a popular location for many Bollywood films; spend some memorable moments here and don’t forget to take some great pictures. Check into your respective camps and enjoy lunch. The evening is free for you to spend at your leisure. Capture beautiful memories by the lakeside. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING & MONASTERY TOUR (80KMS ROUND TRIP)
After a leisurely breakfast, visit Hemis Monastery, located 45 km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you will return along the same route to Thiksey Monastery, situated on a hill overlooking spectacular views of the Indus Valley. Thiksey is particularly famous for its colossal seated statue of Maitreya and is also known for its assembly hall (Dukhang), which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books bound in silk and kept between wooden covers. Afterwards, we will proceed to Shey Palace, passing several chortens (stupas) along the way. Shey Palace was the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Return to the hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DEPARTURE FROM LEH
After breakfast, depart to Leh airport to board the flight back for onward journey with beautiful memories.
